Peace talks scheme for gang rows
Gang members could receive mediation to solve disputes in a new bid to combat youth violence in London.
Following on from a similar scheme in the West Midlands, it will see gang members being referred for one-to-one sessions conducted by a mediator.
Youth violence is a major issue in the capital, with 30 teenagers being murdered last year.
Businessmen, housewives and youth workers will be among those acting as mediators in the scheme. [

Town of Hempstead Hires Mediator
After less than two months of contract negotiations, the Town of Hempstead's municipal union has declared talks at an impasse and requested the help of a mediator. The 2,900 town employees covered by the collective bargaining unit began the new year without an agreement.
